Last Thursday, November 16th, a change to the zoning on Vet's Hwy was discussed. The change in zoning would allow fast food restaurants with drive thru's, more gas stations with convenience stores and more hotels. The RCA spoke out against those particular changes but we do agree that upscale restaurants should be allowed. Perhaps even a specialty supermarket. The vote is TUESDAY November 21st at Town Hall in Islip at 6 pm. If you want Vet's Hwy to be full of fast food restaurants, more hotels used as emergency housing and even more gas stations than please sit home and do nothing. Otherwise we urge our members to attend and speak out against these changes. Urge our Town Board ELECTED Representatives to improve our neighborhood and not allow it to become "fast food and gas alley" (and a haven for more hotels that will become emergency housing.) At 10 minutes and 30 seconds the only elected official that speaks for us is Trish Bergin Beginning at 28 minutes and 35 seconds is Bruce Edwards, and Eileen Panico speaking out against some of the changes. |
